The latest Mixed Media Art piece - Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine by Jeffrey L. Reeb.

This mixed media piece combines, a beautiful Vintage chalkware - Our Lady of Lourdes statue from an old convent, a salvaged mantle clock casing, embellished with various vintage religious elements and a silver cup. This piece stands 22" high and 14" wide. Finished in gold , silver and white this shrine is reminiscent of a vintage reliquary.

Big Huge Yard Sale!

The Roost aka Jeff and Nancy is having a really big sale tomorrow – a yard sale – a tent sale – a shed sale OR as Jeff insists on calling it – The Roost At The Shed at our house in Pflugerville. As you know it is insanely windy today so we can't put everything out or it will blow away. We started setting up earlier this week and I've got pictures up to that point but we have lots and lots of really great stuff! I'll put up the pictures here and then if I get some as we set up will post tomorrow.

haha – just checking to see if you're paying attention. This is for the art bra auction for the Pflugerville Relay For Life tonight (the 15th). It's a Hendrickson High School on 685 and a great charity event plus a lot of fun so stop by~!

Some wonderful old linens (not shown) – chenille bedspreads, quilts, pink curtain and sham sets, baby quilts. We don't have clothes or toys however.

I have some authentic Dooney and Bourke purses.

Vintage Saints and Crabapples

In the Roost we've added more ceramic pieces made in Japan. From the wonderful makers Lefton, Norcrest etc there are some absolutely lovely saints figurines. St Terese,

Infant of Prague and a Holy Mother lady head vase plus some beautiful holy water fonts.

This Norcrest demitasse set is handpainted and has the old paper handwritten label. Just in time for Texas Bluebonnets!

We added some great sets of dishes today. Franciscan Desert Rose by the piece and two sets.

This set of divided plates is sooo unusual. I've searched and searched and can't find the information on them. Light opaque teal with a darker teal ring they are quite heavy and will go into the oven for warming.

Hard to find Morgantown crinkle glasses in topaz – a set of eight plus a Hazel Atlas set.

And finally a really nice set of Blue Ridge Pottery Crabapple plates.

Succulents and Silver

Are you ready to garden? We have little dish gardens that make wonderful gifts! Treat yourself or buy one for a friend. For $35 you'll get a lot more for your hard earned dollars than a $50 + bouquet of mums from a florist. These little succulent gardens take very little care and practically water themselves!

Planted in old silver pieces and embellished with more vintage things you're also being kind to the earth by reusing and repurposing things.

The possibilities are endless of ways to use them.

Presidents Day Sale at The Roost

The Roost has loaded our space with new items for President's Day. Not only that but we have reduced the price for this weekend on all furniture. this beautiful antique buffet has been given a fresh look with distressed black paint and has an amazing amount of storage.

This china pedestal came to us in a container of French antiques so I'm calling it French – it reminds me of Capodimonte, however. In any case – it's old, about 3' tall and is just stunningly beautiful.

These chairs are a super deal…$325 for the pair! Mr. Roost wants them sold before I send them for a makeover!

Another French antique…a gathering baskets from the vineyards. Priced at under $100 makes it much less expensive than any like item within the mall.

We also have some very vintage (1930s) French Newspapers – 5 for $12. If you're too far away we also have these in our online Etsy Store – The Vintage Roost.

Upcoming Holidays

This past weekend The Roost got a new look – bringing in some Christmas items to get ready for The Antique Gallery's after Thanksgiving sale. I just couldn't take out all the fall items yet so brought in some gold trees to coordinate with the very vintage gold felted tree skirt on the mantle. Of course the gold trees sold already so a new tree will go in this week.

This tree skirt is embellished with a lot of handbeading and tiny little mirrors. The fireplace is perfect for a little ambiance – the embers glow as it makes comforting little crackling sounds.

I think this pine cone wreath is a perfect match for a little faux deer head.

My plan was to mainly do my booth in pink and red – this buffet looked so pretty with a vintage pink tablecloth but as soon as it was finished the tablecloth sold so at this point I'm getting shorter and shorter on pink!

This diminutive pink hutch is still there (I think) and looked so sweet paired with red accents.

We're getting ready to bring a lot of new things into the roost so we need to make room! Christmas is just around the corner and The Roost has to get ready…I hear you…it's seems like Thanksgiving gets ignored. (We have wonderful serving pieces if that's what you need)

This buffet is in absolutely perfect condition but it's soon going to be painted black. Lovely as the original finish is it hasn't sold and painted furniture is a hot seller right now. It's $375 if you want it in the original finish.

This is an amazing piece – it's a really old cedar chest that opens from the front (a drawer) so it would be perfect for a lot of uses especially for a large flat panel television. On sale for $250

Channel Back Chairs

We have just acquired a beautiful set of channel back chairs. They're very vintage and at some point were reupholstered.

It's amazing how this color seems to work with so many others. Having spent most of their life in a formal, little used living room they are in excellent condition. $500 for the pair or $275 each. Stop in to see them – we're located on Aisle A in the Antique Gallery.

I've been busy working in The Roost as opposed to blogging about The Roost! We have added lots of new items and our prices are more like garage sale prices! This wonderful black table was a display piece in the Ralph Lauren department of Dillards. No it's not new….it was one of their fabulous antique display pieces. Each end has a leaf that pulls out and pops up. For $195 you simply can't beat the price!

My little nod to the '50s – so much fun stuff.

Jewelry Collection

We have sterling, gold, and costume jewelry from the '60s.

This sterling perfume vial is so interesting

This is an inlaid mosaic bracelet ($30). This Turquoise inlaid bracelet is $40. This is a huge smoky topaz stone set in a 14k prong setting. The stone pops out so it would need stableizing. These three rings are $40, $45, $29 respectively. A '60s Avon perfume ring, sterling marcasite and onyx ring and an open back Avon filigree and opal ring.

These Zipper rings are the lastest item made from old zippers they are just adorable!

A New Old Showcase

Vintage Dr Pepper Machine $750 - sold

This is a great, truly great buy on this Vendomatic Dr Pepper Machine. It has the glass door with 10 slots. At one time I kept this on my porch with Topo Chico and Corona beers in it. They stayed icy cold. It seems as cold today as it did then. This machine works great. You could leave it as is with its shabby all original exterior Or have it painted to look brand spankin' new! You can see this in The Roost.

We finally have a locking case at The Roost where soon we'll have some really nice jewelry. For now we have some wonderful collectible clocks and a rare Jerusalem wood bible.

Also available is that rare Sam's Club soup can – lol. Actually I can't remember what is displayed in it …. wait I remember now. PEZs or what ever the plural of Pez is! We've looked so long for just the right display case and are thrilled to have found this one.

I wondered what in the world anyone would do with so many swans and then found all sorts of uses holding ribbons and trinkets.

or napkins. They are so graceful and beautiful and

would be perfect for holding little Easter surprises…

What a great find this is! A turquoise stand mixer. I don't have bowls or beaters but they are readily available on ebay. Not expensive either!

Christmas was sooo busy I was remiss in posting pictures of our new items in our booth at The Antique Gallery. This great glass front corner cabinet adds storage and style to almost any room – dining, bedroom, or even a bathroom.

These little chairs are so sturdy and well made they’ll last for many more generations. See the wooden summer fireplace cover in the background – you could buy one at Ballard’s for LOTS of money or alter this one for $65 and have a fabulous blackboard/inspiration/bulletin board!

This darling little dining set has drop leaf sides – perfect for a breakfast or kitchen area.

We also have a beautiful collection of Vintage Perfume Bottles – aren’t they lovely?

Roost Redo

It seems like every year Thanksgiving gets ignored! Same story in our booth at The Roost. Yesterday we added a wonderful distressed black lighted display case. It got the signature finish …..

and to add a little extra style we covered the back with old music from a player piano roll.

With the glass shelves and lighting it has a wonderful sparkle!

This is a marriage made in heaven…a christmas tree with no stand and a piano stool with no seat. Solution? Turn the stool into a tree stand! LOL

For now it’s holding some old 50’s ornaments and garland.

This tiny pink tree is decorated with vintage pink glass ornaments and tiny old cake decoration doves.

Childs Rocking Chair

Today we decided to just shuffle everything around at The Roost. We moved the doors and added a wonderful Pottery Barn jute rug. The doors made a perfect little spot for a new corner cabinet.

New cake carriers and a great old Kreamer breadbox. Love this set of

restaurantware. Thirty-six pieces for $75. I'd say that is a great deal!

Going Green At The Roost

The first of March pretty much signals Spring in Texas. Round Top and Warrenton Antique Fairs are gearing up and at The Antique Gallery in Round Rock we're "going for the green" with a March Madness Sale! The checkout counter is definitely going green with a Vintage Garden theme.

Here's Miss Pat showing off her handiwork! Didn't she create a wonderful collage? Imagine being able to shop over 100 dealers to choose just the right piece for spring decorating.

The Roost, as always is adding and changing. Here are just a few of the new things that we're putting in the store. Ready to cover your fireplace? Look at the wonderful wooden screen on the table. Wouldn't it be fabulous as a giant memo board on a desk?

The Roost is always in transition! We added a bright springy area rug. Had a few things out for Valentine's Day last Saturday

On Sunday we put these great little green stands/tables there...for about an hour

and then they sold! I didn't even have time to say "HMMM - those would look great on my porch!"

I bought two of these wonderful 60's chairs with the original upholstery that is in perfect condition. They were in someones formal living room and rarely sat in.

Honestly, I think I need to move in there because I'm really liking it! Stop by and see us. Nancy

We've Moved The Roost

Welcome to our new "Roost". We are now located on Aisle A at the Antique Gallery!

We have a lot more space and a lot more FRONTAGE on two sides now.

And we are still in the process of bringing in new items.

Our new sign will hang from the old rooster whirligig. Mr. Roost retrofitted an old hutch to make a fabulous display piece.

And here's a new desk/sideboard/whatever he just redid.

Now we have space to hang more things

I love this rug and would like to keep it so that usually means it's a quick sale!

Romance at the Roost

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. The Antique Gallery is chock full of unique romantic gifts and The Roost has a selection of one of a kind vintage inspired tags and cards. Look at these cute little cupcake picks. Tiny little valentines about 1" x 1 1/2 ". They are absolutely adorable for home, school or office parties. Let me know in time and we can do special orders!

This is no longer available but a cute idea for a collector or for altered art.

If I remember correctly this large painting is only $50 and if not you can have an internet special for that price! (The garland is not included).

Here's an idea...a magazine holder to organize all those decorating mags or to use as a holder for some decorated file folders.

Rearranging The Roost

Today was a redoing day at The Roost. Do the corners look empty? The large corner cabinets were sold...along with the cute buffet server. I happened upon some wonderful trays of "new" old store stock. Isn't it amazing how these things turn up?

Here's a grouping of Fire King mugs and cups and saucers - they are so versatile and will be right at home with almost any pattern you have!

Yes, we have a lot of distressed black items including this darling little magazine rack which would also be perfect for holding file folders.

Next door it's still time for tea but that wonderful wicker desk sold so now I've replaced it with a fabulous old wood dressing table.

Doesn't it look like spring is here a little with the forsythia stems?

The teaset is still available.

as is the cute bedtray.

Sadly, the umbrella doesn't fit beneath the table and my umbrella hanging man wasn't available today so if it doesn't sell it's going over this little display.

That beautiful crochet tablecloth is new and if the gals who work at the mall have to move this stuff again tomorrow they are really going to hate me! So wait a day or two if you're going to buy it. LOL

Welcome to the Salon de The or uh TEA! It's just my fake tearoom..... A little vignette I set up in the space next to mine at The Antique Gallery in Round Rock.

I've added lots of vintage filmy scarves, hats and gloves.

A fabulous tea set by Blue Sky Pottery.

A set of six FireKing cups and saucers and some beautiful Haviland Limoges China.

How about a vintage bedtray? It angles up to become a reading tray or maybe it could hold your laptop.

And if it's raining there's a fabulous designer umbrella from a few decades ago!

A lamp and lampshade made from vintage cotton fringe. It has the prettiest room flattering soft glow.

I think this would be a wonderful set for a sewing room - an old spool lamp and sewing box - both covered with the best parts of a vintage repurposed tablecloth.

Welcome to The Roost. I thought our new antique store needed a blog of its own. I'll be posting lots of pictures and new items as they come in so check back often to see what we've been up to.
Now for a little tour....

I love these checked pedestals - there was a neat old teapot that was on one but (sigh) it sold!

Isn't this the neatest old wicker desk. It would work as a table also.

This wonderful little desk caddy sold right after we set it up.

These Homer Laughlin mugs are the absolute best at keeping your coffee warm.
